We started Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck on the streets of NYC in 2008 with a mission to make good ice cream that makes you feel good.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Vice President of Sales. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as they embark on their next stage of accelerated growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly experienced with sales in the CPG space, data driven, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).

As VP of Sales you will be responsible for promoting sales growth in the wholesale market through creating positive relationships with retailers and overseeing their handling and promotion of the Van Leeuwen product. You must be both strategic and operational, willing to roll up your sleeves to ensure execution but also have the wisdom and experience to lead with a focused vision and confidence.

This role reports directly to the Founders of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and is remote anywhere in the United States.

Job Responsibilities

Sales and Brand Awareness

  • Work closely with the founders and lead the wholesale department to create and execute strategies to drive CPG sales for each region and channel to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Increase sales and brand awareness via strong retailer relationships and marketing initiatives (successfully working cross departmentally)
  • Successfully support and participate in the execution of company driven and local promotions, events, and launches to meet and exceed sales targets and deliver the best possible experience for customers.

Professional + Organizational skills

  • Develop and execute strategic sales, training and event plan to accelerate brand awareness and meet sales goals.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent planning, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Meet deadlines and function with an overarching focus on efficiency and ROI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Relationships

  • Responsible for developing and leveraging positive retailer relationships to maximize store level support related to all areas of driving the business.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive/effective business partnerships, with all levels in the organization in a fast paced and growing environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence others.
  • Gathers knowledge and best practices for the organization, providing feedback to key partners, as applicable, to inform improvements that are needed
  • Ability to build strong partnership with Co-Founders and C-Suite
  • Ability to influence without always having direct control
  • Own top-to-top relationships with major retailers

Stock and Merchandising

  • Lead and direct field teams focus on merchandising standards including oversight of cleanliness and stock, remerchandising.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a relative field
  • 15+ years of wholesales experience in CPG
  • 5 to 8 years experience leading a team of wholesale professionals
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google-suite tools, Enterprise w/Inventory Management hands on experience
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce and present clear status reports in a tactful and candid manner
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of product innovation and consumer trends
  • Strong financial acumen - P&L responsibility , cost control, forecasting
  • Adaptable and resilient - able to manage growth pains, supply chain challenges, etc

Compensation + Benefits

$250,000.00 - $300,000.00 annual compensation depending on experience, paid weekly. This role is eligible for bonus - bonus potential is based on performance and achieving sales targets set by leadership.
